The Nigerian Anthropological and Sociological Association (currently, Nigerian Anthropological and Sociological Practitioners Association (NASA)) is the body established for the regulation of teaching and practice of sociology in Nigeria. It is a registered non-governmental organization with registration no. 44324. NASA as a professional body was inaugurated in on March 20, 1971 in the Drapers Hall, Institute of African Studies, and University of Ibadan. This was preceded by a pre-inauguration meeting held in January 15, 1971 chaired by Prof. E.U. Essien Udom with a motion moved by Prof. Onigu Otite and supported by Prof. Imaogene.
The objective of the Association is to organize and enlighten Sociologists, Anthropologists and interested persons in related disciplines to abide by appropriate ethical conduct in the teaching, research and practice of sociology and anthropology and to stimulate them to contribute sociological insights towards scholarship and national development.
We are pleased to announce that submission of abstracts to over 1000 sessions organized by the research committees, working and thematic group opened on April 2017.
